Presbyterian Women’s Purpose: Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study.
- To support the mission of the Church worldwide.
- To work for justice and peace.
- And to build an inclusive and caring community of women that strengthens the Church and witness to the promise of God’s Kingdom.
To accomplish our purpose, the Women’s Ministries are divided into two primary areas:
Ministry of our women to their homes, our church, the community and around the world
Our women reach out and serve those around them in many ways, including bereavement meals, compassion meals and service projects for the community and church . We serve the church body by serving church dinners and by decorating for church events. We also see these times of service as opportunities for our women to fellowship with each other and encourage one another in their walks with our Lord. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the church office.
Ministry to our Women
Some of the ways we provide ministry to our women to help them develop their walks with Christ through Circles that allow Bible studies, prayer times, prayer chains, retreats, special events and seminars. Circles bring women together for fellowship prayer and lasting friendships.
The Joy Circle: A group of very energetic, mature, fun loving and enthusiastic women who are young at heart. We are actively involved in the life of the church and we meet on the first Tuesday afternoon of each month (1 p.m. in the Parlor). We are currently studying the book of Revelation taken from the traditional Presbyterian Women’s Horizon Bible Study. For more information, please contact the church office.
Friendship Circle: The members, of all ages and walks of life, are instrumental in organizing and establishing our Women’s Rally Day and the Women’s Tea. They support charities such as Noah’s Ark, Haven House and Stepping Stone by hosting and organizing fundraisers. Friendship Circle meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. The meetings are hosted at a member’s house. In addition to “old and new business”, the Circle also has devotional time, time for sharing prayer requests (joys, praises and concerns) as well as fun and fellowship with friends. Please contact the church office.
Early Risers Circle: The Early Risers meet the last Thursday of each month at 8:00 am in the Chapel area of the church. There is a small breakfast, a short order of business meeting, a devotional each month and normally finish by 9:15 am. The majority of the ladies in this circle are retired. They enjoy sharing their love of grown children, grandchildren, books, travel, cooking and, of course, their church family. There is a lot of laughter at these meetings and a few tears. They are famous for their napkins that they send out each month to shut-ins and those who have been ill or in need. This circle chooses several projects each year to be involved with, such as Haven House and a Friend’s House. For more information, contact the church office.
Saving Grace Circle: The Saving Grace members are mature, fun-loving and enthusiastic ladies who seek mutual support and spiritual enrichment. The primary outreach in the community is supporting Relay for Life for cancer research. For several months of the year, the ladies enjoy creating homemade arts and crafts to raise funds for Relay. Saving Grace meets in the late afternoon of the second Thursday of each month in member’s home or in local restaurants. Please contact the church office.
Women’s Tea: Held in odd numbered years, this event is hosted at someone’s home and brings young and old together to enjoy a wonderful afternoon.
Women’s Rally: Held in even numbered years, this event is hosted at the church with inspirational speakers and fellowship followed by a luncheon. Individuals “host” tables bringing their own china and personal flare. This is a favorite event among all women of church.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: The Prayer Shawl Ministry creates wonderful shawls that are blessed in worship and then given to members and friends who are experiencing a difficult times in their lives. Knitters of all skill levels are invited to join the group. This group meets in the administrative wing. For more information, please contact the church office.
Women’s Sunday School: This class meets on Sunday Mornings at 9:40 in the conference room.
